There was a time when I thought being a good person meant being available to everyone.

Someone needed help — yes.
Someone asked for a favour — yes.
Someone needed me when I was already exhausted — still yes.

And sometimes, after saying yes, I would quietly think:

“Why did I agree to this?”

I think many of us have lived this way.

Some of us say yes because we are afraid of disappointing people.
Some because we don’t want conflict.
Some because we feel responsible for everyone’s happiness.
And some because saying “no” makes us feel guilty.

Interestingly, these different ways of obliging can even remind us of different homeopathic pictures.

The person who swallows their words, avoids confrontation and later feels hurt inside may remind us of Staphysagria.

The one who keeps trying to be the “good one”—responsible, accommodating, doing everything perfectly so nobody is disappointed—may bring Carcinosin to mind.

The person who finds it difficult to refuse because they need affection, reassurance or simply don’t want anyone to be unhappy with them… Pulsatilla.

And the deeply sympathetic person who keeps giving because someone else’s problem immediately becomes their problem… Phosphorus.

Different people.
Different reasons for saying yes.
And that’s exactly why homeopathy looks at the person behind the symptom, not just the symptom itself.

But perhaps we don’t always need a remedy.

Sometimes, we simply need to learn one small sentence:

“I’m sorry, but I can’t do this right now.”

And say it without explaining ourselves ten times.

Because saying NO doesn’t make you less caring.

Sometimes, it simply means you’ve finally started caring for yourself too. ❤️
